Avalanche Sound Bio
Avalanche Sound is an Jamaican base Sound System that dedicated to promoting and producing dance hall, reggae, hip hop & R&B music. Started in 2001 by upcoming Artiste Bakardi & Prima Avalanche Sound goals is to help bring reggae music to the next level. DJ Bakardi, of Avalanche Sound was born in Flatbush Brooklyn, New York in the late 70's from Jamaican parents. He had a love for music at a young age. "My father had a huge record collection consisting of Ska, Reggae, Disco, and Soul music, and I used to fool around with the turntables when no one was around, that was my first experience with a turntable. After relocated to Kingston, Jamaica in 1998, and after meeting a few people in the business, Bakardi started to book shows for a few top rank sound systems in Jamaica.
While living in Kingston, DJ Bakardi also started working as a show promoter for "Champion Promotions" where he was put in charge of marketing, organizing, promoting, and acquiring sponsorship for all the events.
Some of the events included their annual "After Champs Fete", "House Party" an "All Inclusive" party series, a Car Stereo & Bike Stunt Competition, a weekly High School Disc Jockey Competition and “Teen Jams, which were all a huge success. The popularity brought hundreds of people each week to audition, and established some dancers as well such as Sadiki & The Colo Colo Dancers."
While working as a promoter, Bakardi decided to start his own booking agency where he would get dates for his clients and would also use his clients on the shows he was promoting. "I was doing booking for Bass Odyssey, Aidonia, Einstein, Taz, and members of the “Scare dem Cru,"to name a few. "Everything was going great.! “I was flying out each month, and every week I was in a different city meeting with promoters and club owners.” “I had so many promoters calling me for dates, so I decided to search for some more clients, but most of the sound systems were already signed.” So Bakardi teamed up with his friend and Dancehall DJ Prima, and they started their own sound system “Avalanche Sound” to utilize the opportunities and contacts he had gained from his experience as a booking agent
Avalanche Sound has worked with several promotesr in Jamaica and the United States. The have played beside some of the biggest names in the music business including Stone Love, Tony Matterhorn, Bass Odyssey, Aidonia, Coppershot, Renaissance, and many more. Avalanche Sound is international!
Avalanche Sound have played in several countries including the USA, UK, France, Japan, Germany, Jamaica, Grenada, Bahamas, and Guyana. & have produced numerous mix tapes of different genres, and have been featured on web sites based all over the world.
Avalanche Sound DJ Bakardi was recently announced as a new member of the Shadyville DJ Coalition. Avalanche Sound has created a buzz for himself in the Jamaica, UK, Japan, & the Midwest through his Dance Hall mixtapes and DJ’ing various clubs throughout the area.
Currently, DJ Bakardi from Avalanche Sound holds down a spot as a a reggae disk Jock on ICR FM 105.7 FM with BBC Daddy Turbo On Daddy Turbo weelky show The Reggae & Dance hall Link Up Show where Avalanche Sound play the lastest dance hall & reggae music coming out of the caribbean.
